How big an area will this clean? Which unit do I need?
Some companies have their own way of measuring the "area" that they clean and use their own formula for calculating that so it makes it hard to compare apples to apples.
Our advice is to refer to the official AHAM (Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers) rating system for air cleaners. They use a system that measures the CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of an air cleaner to come up with the recommended room size.
It may not be a perfect system (it doesn't consider ceiling height for example, or take into account if the area is open or closed)...but at least it allows a real "apples to apples" comparison because all of the air cleaners are measured in the exact same test at the same certified lab.
So, even if you do not purchase from Winix... we really recommend that you purchase from a manufacturer that is using this official, honest, and respectable certification process.
